Tip - The Screen Grab

Bullseye

As I’m starting to do more work for Tim over at Surfbits and a few other of my Mac friends I’m finding the need for screen grabs. So OS X to the rescue …

Command + Shift + 4

This allows you to make crop box. If you hit the space bar it gives you a camera icon and takes a picture of the specific window it is parked over.

In the long run you might want to add the Control button to this shortcut.
Cmd+Crtl+Shift+4 Gives you a crop box but only takes a copy into your clipboard. Ready to paste anywhere, into Mail to name one place.

On top of that you can choose different kinds of formats for your grabs, jpg, png, tif, pdf and more. Go to Application>Terminal and type:

    defaults write com.apple.screencapture type pdf

Enter and you have your grabs as pdf
