I used to read ebooks on my Psion 3a & 3c and Series 5 a decade ago they all did an excellent job of storing and presenting a book in a convenient manner. The text could be enlarged as needed, the text could be set to scroll, etc. The amazing thing about the readers on these handheld PDAs was that the software was freeware and I am indebted to the generosity of the individuals who made those apps. For some reason I could never sit at a PC and use reader apps.

As mobile phones have replaced PDAs reading a book isn't something I can imagine doing again (I'm not an iPhone/Touch user so that may be different). I wouldn't buy a device like this and I don't need connectivity in such a device. But if Apple brought out a new Newton... well maybe.
