I like MenuCalendarClock (http://is.gd/91s) which has modules for iCal and entourage. In addition to giving you lot of flexibility in how to display today's date in the top, bar, thingy (goodbye little brain cell, I will miss you).

It will also show you today's, and even the next several days, events and todos.

You can even check off todos. Plus you get a month at a glance calendar with dates having events shaded.

A lot of programs do one or more of these things, but this is the first one I have found that does it all in one nice package.
The only downside it puts an icon in the dock, which is unnecessary.

Also it is part of the current MacUpate promo so you can get it an a bunch of other programs on the cheap. Woot! (can you still say "woot" when you're over 35? Oh well)
