16 Comments Mac Power Users 47 – Workflows with Merlin 2.0

  1. armwood@armwood.com

    I have listened to everyone of your Mac Power Users podcasts, some more than once. This was by far the geekiest. I will have to listen to this a couple of more times to get more out of it. I use a MacBook. I don't use an iPad. My wife will get one soon. Merlin is so into his workflow. It will take me quite a while to sort out everything he was talking about.

    I eagerly await your Omnifocus tutorials.

    I thought it was interesting but while I think of myself as somewhat saavy this was way beyond me. Conversations about keystrokes in apps one doesn't have doesn't make one a better user.

    Somehow Katie is the one who brings it back to reality for me and she was MIA.

    @MPU in general:
    Thank you for your work. It is very much appreciated! By listening to all of your episodes, I have learned a lot and it was and is always very interesting. Both of you are doing a great job. To my mind, David and Katie have unique and different perspectives on many topics. Their unique view of things and them talking about their individual approach to a topic brings a lot to the table and unfolds many solutions I haven't thought of before. I love it!

    @This episode:
    I would consider myself a geek. I work as an accountant, I have to use Windows at work and I have been using a Mac for 5 years now at home. I do a little PHP and MySQL programming as a hobby and I love playing with HTML5, CSS3, Right now, I am dipping my toes into design. This episode is a special one. I was able to follow everything. And I think that it is a good episode. Maybe a little too long (it could have been shorter, Merlin Mann does a great job, but it might have been a good idea to use iThoughts HD beforehand on his part… ;)). Probably, the toilet break could have been avoided with a little less speaking like a book and doing more of a GTD approach to talking (Disclaimer: I mean this in a positive way, I am no native English speaker. So please forgive me, if I did not find the right words.)… But still, I have to say: I have gotten a lot out of this episode. And also thanks to Merlin Mann for taking the time and talking about his workflows!

    I really liked the show and like one of the other listeners will have to go over it again to get everything out of it I want. Different people different stripes, I guess as I really found the comments at the end about Merlin's book very interesting indeed.

    I feel like my mac use has grown up with you guys, I started using a mac a few years ago and when I started listening to your podcasts I realised there was a whole unexplored world out there of new skills and interesting life type stuff. Without your podcast I don't think I would have made it happen with my workflows now starting to really sing and dance to my tune.

    Thanks for everything and keep up the great work.
