iPhone Apps – Appeal to Readers

Funnell.jpg

Okay gang, I’ve been swamped the last few weeks between a very heavy load at the office and a little mini-vacation trip to Las Vegas. As a result, (Except for OmniFocus iPhone) I haven’t had time to go very deep with the iPhone App Store. Thankfully, I’ll be able to catch my breath this weekend but rather than wonder blindly through the AppStore, I’d like to hear from the readers (via comment or email) what your favorite applications are. Help me sort the wheat from the chaffe. Let me know and I’ll put together a post on it in a few days.

I’ve mostly browse for freebies and didn’t installed much on my iPod touch because I don’t want to overload it. My favorites and must have so far are NetNewsWire and 1Password. I simply can’t live without these two on my desktop as well. On the games side, Tap Tap Revenge is absolute fun (my kids simply love it) and Labyrynth Lite is aslo pretty cool.

Hi David. I SO wish I could say OmniFocus, but alas, it lost the ability to sync in the last 2 days, making work very stressful. “Mind Like A Waterfall” is my new OF descriptor. My top-5 are:
    1. Pandora
    2. Comic Touch
    3. Flipbook
    4. Jott
    5. Evernote

Aurora Feint is kind of interesting. Instead of buying Bejewelled, grab a copy of AF for FREE!

It’s kind of like it, but with a bit of a twist. There is an RPG element which is currently unavailable. But basically, your score in the bejewelled–esque portion of the game has a direct effect on your character in the RPG element to the game.

But it does work without the RPG gameplay.

Of course you could tune into the MacReviewCast and catch my segment! I’m currently on vacation, but normal service will be resumed shortly!

David, Just to elaborate on an app that others have mentioned. My absolute favorite, so far, is Pandora Radio. This a free ap. You give them an artist or genre you like and they stream the artist and similar artists or music. You have the option to give a thumbs up or thumbs down to each selection as it plays. Pandora then customizes your mix further. You can also choose to buy the song playing from itunes or bookmark the song or artist for later. You can have up to 100 different customized radio lists. You can intermix them if you want. All for free.
