Whisper Memos just added an MCP server, and I am already digging it.
I’ve written before about how much I like Wispr Flow. I use it frequently on my Mac. But there is another transcription tool on my belt. Whisper Memos is my choice when I am mobile. (Whisper Memos has sponsored MacSparky in the past, but I was a paying subscriber long before that.)
I’ve got Whisper Memos connected to Drafts so I can press the Action button on my watch or phone, say a few words, and in about a minute they show up in my Drafts Inbox. It does a good job of capturing my voice, and I don’t have to stop what I am doing to type. I use this workflow multiple times a day.
Whisper Memos got some recent updates that are of note and will simplify this workflow. First, there is a small new Apple Watch feature I like. The watch now shows a live timer while it records. That little bit of feedback is helpful. I can glance down and know everything is still working.
The MCP connection is the bigger update. Once connected, an AI assistant can read your Whisper Memos transcripts, summaries, and labels when you ask. The connection is read-only. The assistant cannot listen to the audio, edit a memo, or delete one.
I have set up a simple protocol. If I want my assistant to act on a recording, I begin by saying, “This is for ChatGPT” or “This is for Claude.” Later, I ask it to look in Whisper Memos and take it from there.
I have not decided whether I will automate that handoff or leave it on demand. For now, I like being able to press the Action Button on my Apple Watch, speak a few instructions, and know I can hand the recording to my assistant later.
This post is a good example. I dictated it into my watch while sitting in a comfortable chair in my backyard.
I write about getting more from your Apple gear. If this was useful, go deeper in the Labs or grab the weekly newsletter.
