Apple announced three new home products this morning: HomeView, a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, and HomePod mini 2. They're available to preorder today, with the speaker arriving first and the other two following in November.
Apple HomeView
Apple's new HomeView is the most interesting, since it's new, but we've been hearing rumors of it for years. The rumor was that the hardware has been done for awhile and the holdup was Siri AI. Well that's here now, and so is the the HomeView.
It's a shared home display with a 7-inch Liquid Retina screen and an A18 chip. The tabletop model combines a tilting display with a speaker base. A separate wall-mounted version puts the same screen and core features in a hallway or entryway.
The display adjusts its brightness from 500 nits down to 0.3 nits, and the interface shows more detail as you move closer. There's a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera for FaceTime, four microphones for voice requests, and support for Spatial Audio. The tabletop model comes in silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray. The wall-mounted model comes in silver or space gray.
HomeView recognizes up to six people by their faces and brings up each person's apps and widgets. It can play music and videos, show photos, handle messages, and display smart home controls. A camera dashboard can show up to nine feeds at once.
Siri AI comes built in, initially in English. Personal requests draw on a paired Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone or iPad. Apple says private information, such as messages and calendar entries, appears only when HomeView recognizes the enrolled user and their paired device is nearby and has been recently unlocked.
Both models cost $299 in the U.S. and arrive November 13. Wall mounts are sold separately, starting at $59.95. HomeView won't be sold in the European Union at launch. Apple's HomeView announcement has the availability details.
Apple TV 4K
The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K gets an A19 chip. Apple claims up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to twice the GPU performance compared with the previous generation. It also adds a dedicated AV1 decoder for more efficient video streaming, while keeping Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support.
Three built-in microphones let you talk to Siri from across the room without picking up the remote. Siri AI adds conversational searches and follow-up questions about what you're watching. With a compatible Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone, it can also find a show someone recommended in your messages.
The new Siri Remote adds Precision Finding and the ability to play a sound when you're trying to locate it.
For home theater, the new box supports four-speaker surround sound using HomePod mini 2 or second-generation HomePod speakers. The front pair must match, and the rear pair must match. You can use larger HomePods in front and minis behind you, with audio calibrated automatically for their positions.
It also remains a home hub, with Thread connectivity and support for smart home controls and camera notifications.
The price is $299 in the U.S., with availability starting November 13. Siri AI is also coming to Apple TV 4K models from the second generation onward as a beta, so that feature alone doesn't require buying the new box. Apple's announcement explains the hardware and compatibility.
HomePod mini 2
The new HomePod mini 2 uses an S10 chip for computational audio and comes in pink, green, blue, white, and midnight. It keeps the compact, 3.3-inch-tall design, with support for stereo pairs and multiroom audio.
Sound Glow adds colors to the top surface that match the album artwork and pulse with the music. The speaker can also be your Mac's default audio output, including for video calls, on Macs with Wi-Fi 6E or later. And it works in the new four-speaker surround setup with the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K.
As a home hub, it supports remote accessory control and automations. Temperature and humidity sensors can trigger actions through the Home app.
Siri AI is promised in a future software update. It won't be available when the speaker first ships. Setting up Siri AI requires the home's owner to have a compatible Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone or iPad with Siri AI turned on; personal requests need a paired compatible device.
HomePod mini 2 costs $149 in the U.S. and arrives October 30. Apple's HomePod mini announcement spells out the rollout.
Apple also announced the Apple Home Collection accessories, developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. The lineup includes cameras, a door lock, and thermostats, with availability starting in December and some accessories following in early 2027.
The hardware now has dates. The HomePod mini's promised Siri update still needs one.
