1Password 3 Leaves Beta

1PasswordIcon.jpg

Agile Web Solutions today announced 1Password 3 is officially out of beta and available for sale. The upgrade offers several new features, an upgraded (and better) interface, and full 64-bit support for Snow Leopard.
I’ve been in the beta for quite awhile and appreciate the many changes and UI refinements. It feels more like a Mac app now than ever before.
Users can also now organize their software licenses in a new, dedicated 1Password Vault category, customize exactly what information syncs to 1Password touch on an iPhone or iPod touch, attach and encrypt virtually any file in 1Password, use Smart Search to filter for just the right results, use tags throughout 1Password for new organizational power, edit 1Password items directly from its browser extensions, and more. For months the beta builds have been rock solid.
It is a paid upgrade, though users who purchased 1Password 2 on or after February 1, 2009 get free license upgrades to version 3. All other owners of 1Password versions 1 or 2 can take advantage of a limited-time, Early Bird Upgrade Discount. Through the end of November, save 50% off the purchase of a single license upgrade at $19.95 USD, or save 57% off a Family Pack upgrade of five licenses for just $29.95. Full licenses cost $39.95 for single users, and $69.95 for Family Packs.

1Password and TextExpander Discounts

1passwd-icon.jpg
images.jpeg

Two of my absolute favorite applications are 1Password and TextExpander.

Password Mojo

1Password is simply the best password generation/management tool I have ever used. The ability to generate secure, different passwords for every web login as well as store other secure data and sync it between multiple computers and keep it all on your iPhone is just unmatched.

Text Input Bliss

Likewise, TextExpander does a great job of using text snippets to insert text in any context. I use it every day and have snippets that range from emails to programming code to contract terms.
Anyway, if you are thinking of picking these two up, they have complimentary discounts. SmileOnMyMac is offering a 25% discount on 1Password when you buy any SmileOnMyMac product at their store and 1Password is offering a 20% discount on TextExpander when you buy 1Password. You can get the details here.

1Password Coming to iPhone Soon

67555a48-f525-49ee-a973-3d841b63358f.jpg

I met Dave Teare, one the the 1Password developers, at Macworld and immediately liked him. Dave is my kind of Mac Geek: passionate about his Mac and making the best possible software. So upon seeing Dave’s write up and preview of 1Password for the iPhone and iPod Touch it comes as no surprise to me that it looks fantastic. Make sure to give this one a spin when it goes live in the AppStore. If you haven’t already, also take a serious look at the 1Password application for Macintosh. I don’t know how I could operate without it. You can read my (somewhat dated) review of 1Password here.

Another Excellent Update for 1Password

1Passwd Icon.jpg

The guys over at Agile Web Solutions seem busier than Santa’s elves lately. They just released version 2.5.7 of 1Password which makes several substantial improvements. In case you are unfamiliar with 1Password, it keeps track of all of your secret data and web login information (among other things) simply and painlessly. I reviewed it awhile back and it has quickly become essential in my Mac bag of tricks.
This new version provides full Leopard support for all of the major browsers: Safari, WebKit, Firefox, Flock, Omniweb, DEVONagent, Camino, and NetNewsWire. It also now supports DEVONagent 2.3.
My favorite new feature is the new Wallet formats including email accounts, instant messengers, FTP, .Mac, Amazon S3, ISP, passport, driver license, hunting license (Yes … Hunting License!), AirPort Extreme, bank accounts, and MySQL database information. It also sports a new backup system and a much expanded search feature.
1Password also exports a nifty encrypted bookmark to my iPhone that puts all this information in my pocket. You can check it all out at 1Password.com.
