Fix Your Photos with PowerPhotos 2.0 (Sponsor)

It’s a new year gang, and I’m guessing over the holidays you took a few pictures. How’s your Photos library doing? If it’s anything like mine, it’s a mess right now.

Did you know there is an app to help you out with that? PowerPhotos is here to the rescue.

PowerPhotos works with the built-in Photos app on your Mac, providing an array of tools to help you get your photo collection in order. Find and eliminate duplicate photos, split up your library into smaller ones, merge libraries together, open libraries in separate windows, export photos/albums, and more.

Best of all, PowerPhotos 2.0 is now available! There are some great new features in version 2.0:

– Convert your old iPhoto or Aperture library to an equivalent Photos library
– Advanced export of photos/albums
– Full support for iCloud Photos
– New visual duplicate detection engineLibrary groups
– Global menu bar item
– Multiple windows

PowerPhotos adds all the features to Photos that Apple never will. You can download PowerPhotos for free to check it out, and purchasing a license will unlock all the features of the program. MacSparky readers can get a 20% discount with the coupon code MACSPARKY23, and existing iPhoto Library Manager and PowerPhotos 1.0 users can also use their old serial number to receive upgrade pricing, 50% of the normal price.

So make the Photos app work harder for you with PowerPhotos 2.0. You can get it today.

AI Narrated Books

Apple is now setting up a system for AI-narrated books. This would allow the computer to generate an AI-based audio narration of a book so that readers can listen as well as read.

I consume a lot of books (primarily fiction) through audiobooks. For fiction, I prefer a human actor over a robot-generated AI voice. For non-fiction, however, I can see this being of use, particularly for books that wouldn’t otherwise get a narrated version. Expect more of this.

Digital + Analog Tasks (MacSparky Labs)

I’ve been running an experiment with the Analog Card system where I’m transitioning tasks to analog cards in the last few days before I perform them. It’s giving me the advantages of a digital plus an analog system without much extra time. So far, I’m digging it. Here’s an explanation of the experiment so far…

The Monday Brief (MacSparky Labs)

As much as I enjoy the holidays, I also like returning to work. Does that make me a weirdo? It’s definitely a thing when you have a job you love. As we head into the new year, I’m setting up my new Focused 2023 wall calendar, and I have decided to take advantage of those four empty dots on each day this year. I mean these…

Mac Power Users 673: Apple’s Freeform App

It’s not every day that Apple releases a new productivity app, but with iOS 16.2 and macOS Ventura 13.1, the company launched Freeform, an infinite canvas app for sketching, organizing, and sharing information. Stephen and I have been using it extensively and break it all down this episode of Mac Power Users.
